Join Carol C and the Global Groove Allstars on April 20th in the Blue Nile Balcony Room.

Enchanting songstress Carol C (Pimps of Joytime, David Byrne) brings her sultry vocal stylings supported by an exceptional group of New Orleans musicians including Brian J Gitkin (Gitkin)  guitar, Jafet Perez (Muevelo )drums, Oscar Rossignoli -keys, Sam Dickey (Tierra Linda) guitar, Miguel Cruz (Los Guiros) percussion, and Justin Filmer on bass. Carol C will be performing a mix of original works and covers, along with a very special set of Nigerian icon Sade's music, featuring her most beloved classics.

Indulge your sonic wanderlust with the sounds of Gitkin, the grammy nominated multi instrumentalist traverses realms of psychedelic cumbia, mystical blues, spaghetti western and middle eastern surf resulting in a genuine expression of musicality that flows through Gitkin’s guitar and production. 

With streaming numbers surpassing 250,000 monthly listeners, Gitkin's musical allure loosely defined as psychedelic world beat has hit a nerve with fans. His debut, "Five Star Motel," showcased mastery in earthy funk, while the subsequent release, "Safe Passage," expanded his palette, drawing inspiration from Greek and Middle Eastern modalities, Peruvian Chicha, and Tuareg Saharan guitar styles.

A "Vodou rock and roots" band, RAM incorporates traditional Vodou lyrics and instruments, such as rara horns and Petwo drums, into modern rock-and-roll grooves. Their lyrics are sung in a macaronic medley of Haitian creole, French and English that islanders and diaspora can appreciate especially. To hear it is to connect with a distinctive sound that could only have been born in Haiti.

We play some great Fela tunes, and some afro-funk from 70s Ghana, but the majority of our live show is original music, stemming from West African concepts, composed to make any crowd move and groove.
